The Challenge: To position Mattel within the competitive card and action battling games similar to Pokemon, Magic the Gathering, and Hearthstone.

Goals: Working with the brand team and the marketing manager, the goal was threefold:

  • Build brand awareness through content distribution and YouTube channel
  • Build an fan base to consume the videos and gameplay
  • Create a BattleClaw card database within the drupal CMS platform

Roles and Process: Knowing that this was a new boys’ action brand for Mattel, I was super excited to work with the various teams involved such as merchandising, licensing and game development. I performed a competitive analysis and dove right in to the world of BattleClaw. I watched the animated series and learned all the rules of the BattleClaw game to understand what a superfan might look for when visiting the site.
